Does belly dancing look better with a flat stomach?

i have a big belly but im not fat and ive never ben able to get rid of it, im in belly dancing 2 months now and love it and would love to wear the costumes 1 day and be on stage when im good enough but when i shimmy, it really wobbles so i just wana know if any1 saw me do that would they cringe or think it was better than a flat stomach
