What cell phone frequency is most used in mexico and el salvador?

One with a sim card I would say. I've been to both countries and I've been able to use my Cingular cell phones over there. All it does is use one of the companies from whatever country your in. I believe it was Claro when I was in El Salvador, I don't remember the one in Mexico.
