Gift after a break up? Pity Gift? lol?

My ex broke up with my a little over a month ago. Its still taking me awhile to get over it just for the fact that there was no complete "closure". He thought it was moving too fast and was in a so called "funk". I don't hate him. I learned to accept that you just can't make someone love you and I won't fight for something that's just not there. Anyways, he broke up with me before Christmas. I knew it was coming in a way so I just gave him gifts because really, I couldn't return it. Anyway, during a hurtful holiday, he kept in touch with very short texts such as "Merry Christmas" "Happy New Years" and figuring it was all over...after New Years he texts me, he got me a Christmas gift and asked if I wanted to pick it up..Naturally, what girl wouldn't want to recieve a gift AND especially one from a man that she loves... It was something that I've wanted for a while and I had no idea how attentive he was..Anyway, was this more or less like a pity gift? What is the meaning of a gift AFTER a break-up? He didn't have to do that...at all. He could of just broke up and that was it... Just confused...
