My mom won't let me shave my mustache? What should i do?

I am a 17 year old indian girl and my mustache is very thick and black. Everyone at school calls me dirty sanchez and I do not know why. It has become unbearingly embarring. I don't know why my mom won't let me shave my mustache. I tried using regular scotch tape to pull it off but that didn't work that well. now i have patches of missing hair and my upper lip swelled up. Please help me.
